Plans are developing for the Spring 2023 Paint-Out. The dates
are April 21-22-23 in Edgewood and Wills Point which are about an hour
east of Dallas past Terrell. Both sites offer a lot of great painting options.
The star attraction will be Heritage Park in Edgewood. It is surprising for a
small town to have such a great attraction.
The park and museum include log cabins and business establishments depicting rural life around 1900 as well as historical modes of travel, and an extensive antique tool collection.
The mission of the Heritage Park Museum is to preserve and promote the
cultural and architectural heritage of rural East Texas, and they are willing
to give us access beyond their regular (short) operating hours.
Nearby Wills Point offers a different kind of small town feel with a nostalgic,
slightly worn downtown that has operating shops and restaurants. The vistas of Lake Tawakoni are also close by to offer additional painting opportunities.
For those who want to stay overnight to take full advantage of the painting options, there is a new Best Western located between the two towns. There are also some great B&B options in the area.
The camaraderie of these bi-annual paint-outs and the opportunity to sketch and paint en plein air are very popular with members.
