This webpage details the One Day Classes offered by Southwestern Watercolor Society.

In addition to One Day Classes, SWS also offers six Multi-Day Workshops per year: 3 in the spring and 3 in the fall.

Trish Poupard-Exciting Florals 8/23/2025

Learn techniques for painting florals from photos with award winning watercolor painter, Trish Poupard. The class will start at 9am and commences at 4pm.

The group will gather to listen to a brief discussion of the subject and Trish will take questions as she demonstrates her process from rendering to painting. Trish will have time to meet with each participant and answer any questions you may have. There will be a lunch break for 30 minutes midway through the class.

Trish Bio: Trish has been painting in transparent watercolor for 12+ years with numerous acceptances into national and international exhibitions and many awards won. Before beginning her career in fine art painting, she spent 14 years as a successful clothing designer in Los Angeles, California. www.trishpoupard.com

She is a self-taught artist who learned watercolor techniques by taking local watercolor classes and workshops. In addition to being a signature member of SWS, the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society (PWSA), the Society of Watercolor Artists (SWA), the South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS), the Texas Watercolor Society (TWS), the Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA), the Watercolor Art Society-Houston (WAS-H), Watercolor West (WW), and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS).

Creating realistic paintings through transparent watercolor is how Trish translates the light captured from images from her own photos. Her work is completely transparent with darks achieved by layering multiple washes. She considers herself a watercolor purist and does not use any form of masking or masking fluid to save the whites in her paintings, but instead uses negative painting skills as she saves the white of the paper to depict white in her paintings.

Inspiration strikes often and Trish paints a multitude of subjects including florals, landscapes, skyscapes, seascapes, figures, and portraits.

Payment in full is required for our One-Day Classes at time of registration.

ONE-DAY CLASSES POLICY:

The one-day local classes will offer watercolorists the opportunity to broaden their experience under the guidance of accomplished local artists.

Workshop enrollment is typically limited to 15-20 participants. Reservations are accepted in the order in which they are received. Wait lists are also formed in the order that requests are received.

There is no deposit with one-day classes. Payment will be made in full at the time of registration and the workshop refund policy will be followed.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

The cancelling member shall contact the One Day Class Coordinator as soon as possible to facilitate replacement. The SWS wait list has first priority over other students who are not on the wait list.

Upon a student’s cancellation of a class at least one month prior to the start date of the One Day Class, the fee is 100% refundable.

Upon a student’s cancellation less than one month prior to the start date of the class, the fee is refundable only if the space is filled and paid for.

There are no refunds for no-shows or withdrawals the day of the class.

SWS reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment or other reasons. If SWS cancels a class, applicants will receive a full refund.
